Koh Samui has all the attractions that you'd expect for a high profile beach and hang-out destination - including the always popular elephant 'safaris'. We declined the safari but Kathleen's compassion for animals did compel her to provide the baby elephant with a fulsome snack of healthy bananas and corn. And everyone benefited - the local farmer who sells the food, the ever hungry elephant and of course Kathleen, who was delighted to give a small treat to the little pachyderm.
On the streets of Koh Samui it was 'Predator' versus 'Aliens'!
The Predator and Alien assembly line - a small workshop where auto and motorcycle parts of all description are welded and hammered together by hooded craftsmen to create the monsters. And the sticker prices will give you a shock! Cheaper to buy the original motorcycle!
The enterprise was started by a poor farmer who scavenged for spare parts and had both the entrepreneurial spirit and the talent to build the business. Predators, aliens and a multitude of other movie monsters are now exported around the world.
Kudos to the farmer but Predators in the living room are not my 'cup of tea'!
